I see, looking at the diagram that I posted it appears the ashtray is held in by the same clips that hold the blank panel in. I know there are screws holding in the ashtray on the drivers side of the car, so it is likely the same situation on this part as well. They may be holding in the piece you are trying to take off. If there aren't any screws holding it in. Just keep trying to pry it off using a flat-headed driver.
