Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum but have been driving my Accord and loving it for the past 4 years. I have a couple of questions about some repairs I need to do to it.

1)
In the past week, I've started to have an issue with the clutch - it occasionally seems like it's engaging very early, right after bringing it off the floor. If I put it in neutral and pump it once or twice it returns to normal for awhile. When I'm coming to a stop, if I put it in neutral and hold the brake, I can feel the clutch slowly descending to the floor.

I'm pretty sure it's the clutch master/slave cylinder, and figured i would just replace both at the same time. I've been looking around at parts, and there are a couple of very inexpensive ones on RockAuto. I had...less than stellar luck on a door handle from them, but was wondering if any of you might have had better luck on any of their other parts/brands. $80 to replace both cylinders looks like a pretty good deal, ignoring reliability concerns.

2)
Many of the things I've seen say to refill the fluid with either DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid. Is there a way to tell what kind is in there now, or does it not matter if I mix them?

3)
I've been trying to find replacement buttons for the area by the cruise control. I have a relatively unequipped model, so I have a couple of blanks there. I installed a new stereo and subwoofers a couple years back, and put a remote switch over there but it kind of stands out, and I didn't do a very neat job on the plastic. I'd *like* to be able to just rig it up to a cruise control switch or something similar, but I'd settle for another blank that I can do a little neater job with.

4)
Anything else I should be looking out for while I'm under the hood?

Thanks in advance for your help! I really appreciate it.

clutch master - under hood, behind strut tower & under dash linked to clutch pedal. Look for wet or dirty area. use flashlight.

clutch slave cylinder - under hood, next to front motor mount bracket. look for wet or dirty area around the rubber boot.

look at the clutch fluid level and its color. it should be light yellow

dot 3 will mix with dot 4 brake fluid. dot 4 is better

I don't think you'll be able to use the steering cc switch to do anything. Iirc it has a circuit board in it. The main cc switch will work tho.

look for any oil leak around the engine

Thanks, I'll make sure to check those spots!

Not the steering wheel one but the one on the dashboard to the left below the vent, where the main cruise control switch is. I have two blanks, where I think the security and sunroof controls would go.
