serpentine belt replacement

My belt broke in the middle of the highway. I was close to an autozone and bought it. Can i do this on the side of the road or will i have to tow it?

Yeah a ratchet set

Ehh you need a long breaker bar with the right socket (forget what size but its big) to loosen the tensioner and take the belt off. Course all the tools you'd need to do this should be at Autozone...

The tensioner seems to be stuck a little.

I put the belt on but when i turn it on the tensioner does not move....its smoking

Then you have a seized tensioner. Unless you are mechanically savvy enough and comfortable on the side of the highway, you'll have to tow it. I presume you are 6cyl?

Yeah im v6....it was seized....i just pushed it to the nearest exit and parked it in the street. Ill get another tensioner and put it on
