Transmission sticking in second gear

Hi I have a 2000 accod ex coupe 4 cylinder with an automatic trans and when I first start driving switching from second gear to third it kinda sticks in 2nd gear. It will only do it 3 or 4 times then it goes back to normal. The only error codes I'm seeing is for a transmission range sensor malfunction but it seems to know what gear its in. And my reverse lights don't stay on. Any help appreciated

How does the tranny fluid smell? Burnt?
