A 5 speed swap should be cheaper than rebuilding the automatic. I did the same swap, too bad im too far away from you.

For starters,

Your gonna need brake and clutch pedals and clutch master cyl and hydro lines.
Drivers side manual axle
Manual starter
Manual ECU (Need to program your keys to that ECU by a locksmith)

F22,F23 and H22 transmission will work.

Thats good enough, if you can do that. You shouldnt have any trouble with it. There is loads of information about this. Feel free to make threads if you cannot find anything in your search. There are a lot of people on here that know a lot.

To cut down on costs, I would try to find good used parts. Like Hydrolic lines....shifter linkage...clutch pedals. Starter, axle....ect...but dont cheap out on clutch, or flywheel. Just go OEM and new.

While the old tranny is off, make sure you check your rear main seal. If it looks tired...replace that too. But make CERTAIN, you dont scratch teh crank taking it out. You need to cut a little sliver in the middle of the seal ring with a razor. Then use a rubber hook or something soft to pop it out. To put it in, I lubed the inner lip with white lithium grease and popped it in with a PVC pipe and cap that matched the diameter of the seal. Then lightly tapped it in with a mallet.

GL!

and im gonna guess the f23 transmission is the cheapest....correct?

I believe so, mine was $500 47k with a 3 month warranty. Its better to find one with some kind of warranty, that way it kinda tells you that its not a junk part. You can also ask the VIN of the donor car to verify the miles on the part.

You dont have to...find a 98-2002 donor accord with a 5 speed in it. Coupe or sedan, the engine bay is the same. Accords are so common, you should be able to find one with the hydo lines attached.

Yeah, you dont have to get everything from one donor car. But the more you can find in one car the better.

There is some wiring involved too. Not much...but there is plenty of coverage in the threads.
