Jesus. When did a ride thread become so regulated or have stringent rules? Go through anyone's ride thread that's more than 20 pages and I guarantee there's off topic chatter about anything and everything. It's his ride thread, who cares. If it's full of pointless BS then just don't read it. And commenting on people's financial and/or family situation is pointless. That's no one's business.

I don't know **** about SCCA or AutoX, but the guy's an adult and can make his own decisions, if they're wrong he'll learn from them. The tough way? Maybe. But no need to be dick about it. If you see something being done incorrectly, there's a more tactful way to going about informing someone.
