I have an f23a1 in my car and it's not doing so hot. Can I put the a1 head on an a4 block without issue?
My friend has a ulev for sale for 60 bucks since the head gasket is going out.
I'm just looking to rebuild the bottom end of the a4 and my current head or another one if that's possible without any issues.

The only reason I haven't rebuilt my current motor is the fact that it's my only car and I'm a delivery driver so I need my car everyday.

I think so...

Go to a parts house, like Advance Auto, I bet they take the same gasket. If they are different part numbers, compare them. See if it's major (different holes) or minor (different thickness).

The A1 and A4 bottom ends are identical with the only difference being the stamping on the block. It's the head that is the difference so the question to your answer is yes, it will bolt right up.
