I can remove the key from the ignition without the car in Park.

In my 1999 Accord Coupe (Automatic), I am able to remove the key from the ignition after turning off the car without putting the shifter into the Park position. On a few occasions I have done this and the car has rolled a few feet after I left the vehicle and I was fortunate enough for it not to have hit anything.

I am trying to figure what is allowing this to happen and how to fix it. Is it something simple I might be able to do?
