Adjusting ignition timing (distributor) - F23a

Can someone please check their CG5 workshop manual and/or check their crank pulley please. My RA3 has markings for ignition timing.

Adjusting ignition timing (distributor) - F23a

There is a lot of information stating that you can not adjust the ignition timing on a 6th gen accord with a F23A engine (CG5). And all you can do is bolt the distributor on (with the ECU/PCM having full control of the ignition timing). If you look an F23a distributor. It has a narrow hole...

Differences in F23a engines and ECUs

Thanks James. Pics will come in handy. I had buddy goto a self serve wrecker here in Australia that had a CG5 (4 door f23a manual). He said he didnt see the second o2 sensor wiring (exhaust was already removed) and we do not think it has an ELD (but not sure). He pulled the loom and ecu...

Differences in F23a engines and ECUs

I only have the stock odyssey 4-2-1 header with the o2 as pictured in a previous post. Pics of the intake and exhaust manifolds would be cool

Differences in F23a engines and ECUs

I understand what you are saying. Say if the mixture is rich, so the ecu leans it, but because the o2 is so far back it is still detecting the rich mix because the leaner mix hasnt come to that point yet, so the ecu will still think it is rich and lean it even more.. i guess this depends on the...

Differences in F23a engines and ECUs

A pic of the intake and exhaust manifolds on a 6th gen f23a would be good. Sadly the image you linked to doesn't seem to work for me. It seems my odyssey has a 4-2-1 manifold. Where as the 6th gen accord has a 4-1? So i guess that explains why the odyssey has the upstream o2 a lot further...

Differences in F23a engines and ECUs

Thanks again for the reply James. I think what we are discovering will come in handy for other members too (given there is a lot of incorrect information around on the 'JDM' F23a - which seems to be the engine in the odyssey). 1) Vtec pressure switch - Seems the odysseys F23a7 does not have one...

    JDM F23A intake manifold

I am digging up this old thread to also correct information said by other members. In JAPAN, the first generation odysseys - RA3- come with F23a in japan (black top). There is also the second generation odyssey - RA6 that comes with a f23a (black top). Now honda japan have all these weird...

    Jdm ecu

Is it manual? If so what is the ecu code/model? Is there any honda model that exists that is manual and uses the JDM F23a?

Differences in F23a engines and ECUs

Thanks heaps for your reply James. Really appreciated. I haven't tried the odyssey's ECU with the manual transmission. Before the conversion there were no engine lights, but in saying this I have only driven the car for a short period (but everything ran alright except for the transmission)...

Differences in F23a engines and ECUs

Hi everybody, I am doing a manual conversion to a 98 Odyssey. It comes with a F23A7 engine with a OBD2B ecu. Because Odyssey's only came in manual, there is no manual odyssey ecu - so I have tried a 6th gen Accord ecu: PAA-L11 However, using this ECU has resulted in a number of codes (as...
