    Sil2DrV6's DIY Latte Art

Re: I thought I would share with you all That is some very nice art, my friend. You have the microfoam down! I've been roasting for about 10 years, and have maybe $4K in espresso equipment, but I can't quite pour what you are doing. Maybe I need to do more than one or two lattes a day...

    ryry's new ride

That's a great looking car, Ryan. The coupes are so much more classy than the sedans in that gen. If you need to put some more miles on it, a road trip to Milw. would get you some beers!

does anyone have a block heater on 98 accord l4 stick?

Sorry, I don't have the part number. My car's a '98, and I bought the heater from the parts dept. at the dealer where I bought the car. I didn't monkey around with taking out the front turn signal to route the wiring either.

does anyone have a block heater on 98 accord l4 stick?

I installed the Honda block heater when it was less than a month old... comin' up on 16 years. One of the best things I've done for the car, and not a very bad install. If I know it's going to drop to 10* or lower I plug it in before bed. But so that it doesn't suck electricity all night, I...

    Excuse to Drive?

I think it's just part of how our brains are wired, that we like to be in motion. It might be a bike, a cycle, a trane or a plane, we like to be mobile. Add in the idea that we can control that motion, and the sense of freedom it brings, and it's all good.

Too old to ride lowered? How old are you?

59 next month... I mainly lurk, but this seemed like a good thread to post in. My car's at ~24" on AMR's. With a TL RSB, the corners are my cheap thrills... along w/ the P-Spec shifter. 114K on a '98 I bought new; I can drive this car the rest of my life, but every year I get a little more...

    Cel po1456?

I had the same issue a couple years back, but can't recall if it was 1456 or 1457. Tried a new gas cap first, then some fuel additive, nada. The next cheapest thing to try was the cannister shut valve @ $50. That did the trick, but was a pita to install. Drop the cannister, if that's the...

    newB suspension help

I've been raising/lowering my car (AMR's) for several seasons. Raising it is a breeze, but lowering it in the spring is getting worse every year because the threads take a beating in the winter. I was going to start a separate thread looking for ideas on how to make that an easier job, but if...

torque head specs? and valve lashes?

My service manual says 22 ft/lbs., do all ten bolts in sequence (start in the middle front to middle back, work your way from the center alternating front to back) and then tighten each bolt another 180 degrees. If you're using new bolts, its 270 degrees.

    F&F Type 1's / Creaking noise

I get the same thing, even tho' I'm on AMR's. Only creaks at low speeds over bumps. I'm convinced the cold has a lot to do with it, and at higher speeds the movement of the suspension parts in the respective bushings happens quickly enough that they don't creak. Since I don't notice anything...

    Manual Transmission and Traffic

But you won't have any acceleration. You'll learn the mph ranges of each gear, and if you slow down beyond the lower end of a gear's range, you'll downshift. Especially on the 4cyl. engines, they don't like being dogged. So, in 5th gear I never drive it below 50. And if I'm going say 60...

Are the Bridgestone Potenza G 019 Grid any good?

Those Contis are great tires. A good friend has them on his Lexus. They're quiet, and ride very, very good. I love my Potenzas, but they're Pole Positions, an entirely different animal than the all-seasons you're looking at.

What'd you do to your accord today?

Flushed cooling system, replaced brake fluid.

whats so bad about bosch spark plugs?

No doubt that is true, in most cases. I put a set of Bosch Platinum 4's in my car over 60K mi. ago, and have never noticed any problems. The car runs fine, pulls strong, and gets 29mpg in mostly city driving. I think someone somewhere had problems w/ Bosch, posted about it online, and the...

PSPEC Install Question - Four bolts for shifter box.

My service manual says they're 8 x 1.25mm, and says they should be torqued to 16 lb./ft. Hope that lines up w/ the sizes at the hardware store you look at.

    Best coilovers for my wants

I bought my AMR's a few years back w/ 10/8 springs, and during the winter/rotten roads, I got tired of the harsh ride. I bought a pair of 6K springs from Andy, put them on the rear and moved the 8's up front. Better for the ride, worse for the scrapage. So to answer your question, yes, you...

Almost came Close to trading the Accord....

Everybody has to make money, but it would be nice to know what your friend and the dealership have into the car. You know if they'd come down to 17.5, there was still room to come down some more. Either that, or they need to give you a lot more than 2700 for your car. It sounds like they're...

What do you think the Trade-in value of your accord is

Dealers can fudge too much on both ends of the deal. It wouldn't matter if they told you they were giving you $8K for your car, 'cuz then they just don't come down as much on the car you're buying. Most people don't want to take the time and effort to sell their car privately, and they know...

    Talk about quality.....

My only point is your choice of the word choice in your first post. No doubt it's his responsibility and needs to accept the fact that aluminum was used where it shouldn't have been. The fact is, you don't know that he intentionally chose to go cheap w/ the aluminum.

    Talk about quality.....

That's kind of a dumb point too. How does anyone know what he chose to use? Suppliers make mistakes in what they send customers. Stuff gets out the door before anyone can notice. Why read into what Andy intended to use? You can ask if/why I'm backing Andy; I can ask why you're slamming...

    Talk about quality.....

I still can't see the need for a locking ring to back up the spring perch. If the springs are properly pre-loaded, then the spring would never unload to where there is no pressure on the perch. That, plus there being no rotational force to turn the perch, suggests that they could be run with...

    Suspension noise (video included)

Not that this would be your fix, but when I installed my coilovers I put a couple layer of that rubber-like shelf/drawer liner between the top hat and the rear shelf where they mount. Have you checked your other suspension bushings, like the sway bar brackets? Or the exhaust hanger might be...

    AMR Coilovers Group Buy

The threads will never go bad, and have more than enough load-bearing capability. The load on the spring would keep that collar in place even without that screw.

    Sway endlinks touching shocks? (AMR)

Why would another brand of coilovers not rub, while AMR's would? Do the AMR's have that much more diameter? I'm not slammed, maybe 2.5" drop, but my end links don't even come close to rubbing. ?
