    The Hitachi distributors from the US A1 models use an internal coil as well. The only other difference I can think of is that the JDM F23A1 didn't use a separate crank sensor, right?

    The 00-02 coolant gauge pins are in a different position from the 98-99, they won't work in each other.

    No it won't mess with the immobilizer. The mileage and trip data are stored on a little pdip-8 eeprom chip on the cluster PCB. You can swap that chip to your new cluster to keep the mileage info with the car. I'll post some pics in a bit

    lol it doesn't happen often on forums anymore. Yep, need a 99 or 98 cluster and run a wire from the thermo sensor directly to the cluster. You can add the thermo sensor if your head doesn't have it, I made a post on how I wired mine up for my H23A swap here

    For an H23A? It comes with a TEC TD-94U stock and from what I've found on different forums a TD-73U (99-00 Civic EX, DX or CX) will bolt up and work in it's place. If you are going OBD1 a TD-61U from a 92-96 Prelude SI VTEC will work

    The only gauge that's different, that I'm aware of, is the temp gauge. 98-99 are the same, 00-02 are the same.

    Maybe? The gauge is just copper coils and a magnet with resistors attached to the poles. It's hard to say what the issue is though, I would look at the caps in the ECU and on the gauge cluster board. They are almost 20 years old now and could be failing. Just a guess though

    What year? The 98-99 are fed from the thermo sensor under the distributor. The 2000-02 are driven by the ECU. It sounds like the gauge is just going out though, they are pretty easy to replace if that's the case.

    Yep, see SergA'a post above. You'll need a 98 or 99 gauge cluster. Run a single wire from the single connector sending unit on the side of the head (under the distributor) to the C2 connector on the gauge cluster. This sensor Connects to this wire - C2 (Yellow/Grn Stripe)

    Are the threads in the block okay? Don't use loctite on the headbolts! You actually need to lightly coat the threads of the bolts with motor oil before torqueing them down.
