Hi, I’m new to this forum as this is my first Accord but not my first Honda or even J Series. I’ve owned a 2012 Odyssey and a 04 TL but this is the first J Series I’m having serious transmission issues with. I bought the car with a bad paper seal for the trans casing and it leaks bad and my gf forgot to fill it one week and it’s been having issues getting into 1st gear and reverse and got really clunky. I was debating if I should get a new/rebuilt auto trans but both me and my gf miss having a manual and one of my attainable dream cars is any V6 manual accord and I want to know if it’s viable to swap one into my car. I work at a Honda dealership and have a lot of helpful resources for OEM equipment and lots of knowledge to help but nobody at my shop has done this swap before. I’ve done some research on here and other Honda/J Series forums and I see it’s about 1.5-3k which is a bit out of my range with rent hikes and other financial issues I have but I need a solution for this car as it is my daily for work and I don’t fancy buying a new one. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

This will be zero help to you, but my mechanic brother and I did exactly that to my 2001 Saturn SC2. Went to a Pick-a-Part yard and got pretty much everything needed for $300. Then before we installed it I ordered a $1,000 limited slip diff and had it installed at the transmission shop he worked at. His boss charged me a handle of Jack. No bs. Once we got it in: pure bliss. Never had any issues out of that 5speed the rest of the life of that car. Did it need clutch swaps? 1

Like I said, zero help to you

If $$ and down time are an issue, I'd highly recommend just putting a reman trans in it.

Doing a manual swap is kinda hard on these cars unless you have an Acura CLS6 donor. The wiring is what makes it difficult to bolt a 6-spd to the J30a1. You could try finding an automatic J32a2 and any one of the transmissions below to make life a little easier:
03-07 Accord V6 MT (NO LSD)
03 CL-S MT (LSD)
04-08 TL MT (LSD)

That link I posted will have all the info needed. The hard part of this swap is sourcing and wiring the swap.
