"Bad" Steering?

So I've had an 02 Coupe EX-V6 for a few months now (it was free) and I'm enjoying it except that the turning radius feels pretty ungainly, and when I'm about an inch away from lock, the power steering won't let me stay there, and pushes pretty hard either towards or away from lock. It also feels like there's a little vagueness from straight, like I can turn half an inch to an inch from straight, before the power steering kicks in, and it feels vague when making slight adjustments from straight because of this.

Could you please let me know if this is "normal" or if there's an easy fix? Thanks.

Have you checked the power steering fluid?

Are you familiar with maintenance schedules?

The car was checked out by a mechanic I trust last Tuesday. They checked over everything, including the steering system, and it all showed as OK.

Never had a problem with the turning radius of my Accord. Never thought about it until I saw your post.
