ok... well first off, we have one HEADER. please get it right people, we have 4 bangers lol.
Hell, Im running nitrous with out headers and with a stock exhaust!!!! ;)
^ you corrected him on using "headers" and then used the same word in your own post:p

You won't see any big difference from cat-back exhaust, header and high flow cat combined. I didn't see much of any REAL difference.

At this point, engine swaps (H22) and forced induction (turbo or nitrous) are the only real ways to get bang-for-the-buck gains out of an I4 6th gen, IMO. Don't expect any sort of big gain from simple bolt-ons because you will be dissapointed if you do.

I think this is common knowledge by now. Our engines are engineered for fuel efficienycy so it doent take well to bolt ons because theirs not much duspalcement that needs to be freed up with boltons. But I think justvtec wants to know ih theyre will be gains period even if they are minimal. We all know you wont get 10 hp by slapping on a catback unless you got a v8 or force inducted.

Glad to see that someone else is in the market for a header. I was wondering the same thing except this: what is the average price for either a DC Sport, OBX, or Megan header. I've seen on ebay a Megan Racing, stainless steel header for the 4cyl for $130 plus shipping and I've also seen a DC-S 4-2-1 header for $38.

I'm going to assume that the Megan is a racing header while the DC-S is just a OEM header. Does it make a difference which one you get if you have a catback and intake??.

I bought OBX Stainless Steel header off of ebay for $160 shipped. Good quality and had it on for months now, no complaints and pretty good gains. Fit perfectly also. Only complaint is it didnt come with a O2 sensor extension so I had to buy one from optout.com, it was one for DC Sports header but it works the same.

DC-S thing is just DC Sports style they call it. I hear terrible fitment with these and money shouldnt be wasted on. I hear good and bad things from Megan racing, I dont have any experience on them so I couldnt tell you.

DC Sports is the most expensive and I guess the best. But for such small gains on our 4 cylinders, I dont think its worth the extra money.

Suprisingly I didnt lose any low end power. I think gains are felt pretty good through the whole rpm range, but mostly in low end and mid ranges. It doesnt feel like too much has changed on top end.

interesting.... I usually hear it going the other way around. Losing lowend and gaining top end. Also ive seen DC sports stainless steel headers with the option to have them "brushed" what does this do is it a coat of somthing to prevent heat stroke?

i've heard a lot of people upset about the weld quality on some DC sports stuff, just food for thought.

and as already mentioned, don't expect anything major from bolt ons. with a header, high flow cat, and decent cat back exhaust you'll prolly only get 10hp from all of it.
