Hi, I have a problem and would really appreciate some answer. I am running an eclipse amp to power all 4 of my speakers. This has happened twice so far!! I would be driving and everything would be fine. But, 2 times when I slow down to park and roll down my window, the amp turns off and my music is gone. I repower my head unit and once again it's working properly again. IT TURNS OFF TWICE ONLY WHEN I ROLL DOWN MY passenger WINDOW. Can it be a problem with the fuse for my power window? Can it be the fuses for my amp need replacing? Does it matter that my power cable that runs the amp is connected by 2 pieces? I didn't have enough power cable therefor I linked another piece... does that even matter? Please help.

that power cable sounds pretty ghetto. i wouldnt be surprised if it could be that. what about the remote wire for the amp? is that all ok? whatd you hook that up to when you installed it?

Sounds like you have a short. If it only happens when the window goes down, take ouy the door panel and speaker and revise the wiring. DO all speakers still work when the amp goes out? Adjust your headunit to the right speakers only, then roll down the window. Does the pass side window still work? There is always a short by a loose wire touching where it shouldnt if it's associated with something like that. I had a similar problem....rear speaker was the culprit. Bad wire connection/short.

Does the fuse on the amp blow when you do use the window?

Or simply....don't use the pass window........

either you have a weak ground or your alternator isn't working properly. if you notice, everytime you pull down your window, your lights will dim. i also notice this on my volt meter everytime i roll down my window. i'm thinking that, you have a bad battery or bad alternator. i would get those checked at autozone.

when the amp goes out all the speakers goes out. What are you talking about with the pass window? All of my windows still work. I don't get what you mean by "Does the fuse on the amp blo when I use the window?". Please clarify that for me. What kind of bad wiring did you have with your rear speakers? Did you whole amp go out or what happened?

My light does not dim when I roll my window down or up. I think it might be the bad wiring.

unusual. you probably got a really good alternator then. try this, when your window is rolled up. press the button to roll it back up and try to see the light on your gauge if it dims or not.

secondly, did you sand down the surface of where you ground your amp? that could be one of the problems and sanding the paint off really makes a difference.

yes, when i roll my window up while its already up, my light gets dimmed. No, I didn't know about sanding the area where I ground my cable... that is a great idea though... I hope the ground is the one causing this problem. JDMDynasty, you seem to know a lot... I really appreciate your help.

if i were you i would just go ahead and buy a decent wiring kit...about $50 and go ahead and replace your window and amp fusese...
you should check out the Scosche E2 series wiring kit...
i ordered mine from www.sonicelectronix.com and i have had no problems...
just hook everything up correctly and you should have no problems

this place is in Valencia, CA so its probably pretty close to you.
