Not sure if this is the right section, but I just calculated that I only get about 16 miles per gallon on my 98 Honda accord! Is it supposed to be that low? I don't have any major mods except for bolt-ons. I calculated the 16 mpg by filling up exactly 15 gallons then zeroing the meter, and then once the gas light came on I did the math and got 16 miles per gallon. I know there's more gas in the tank because the light just came on, but still, it's way too low for a 4cyl.

well to start that's not how you calculate MPG

    1. Fill up your tank
    2. Zero you trip meter
    3. Drive
    4. fill up again and take note of how many gallons it took to fill it up
    5. Divide the number of miles by that

Isn't that the same thing? I filled up 15 gallons, reset the meter, then drove till close to empty, then divided the 15 gallons by the # of miles.

If I filled it up afterward, it should still take about 15 gallons to fill up I'm assuming, right?

As for everyone else, I got varying answers, but mine still seems the lowest. Yeah my car was mostly sitting around for about 6 years (I came back every 2 years or so and drove it daily, but most of the time my dad would just start it every now and then but not drive it too much). Now I'm back and drive it daily.

I don't do highway, just local roads, but don't really drive like an asshole.

PS, what you said isn't quite the same thing as how it's supposed to be done.

LOL. Still good mpg for a V6 being an AH imo.

    I get 26~28 on hwy, 19~21 city on my V6, and I don't follow "low 'n slow".

Sometimes I wish mine were 5spd I-4 and get 30+ mpg..
