Sense I'm working on some custom tail lights and I've acquired several sets I figured I'd give yall some ideas with simple lens swaps. In my defense, I broke one lens so I had to buy another set and one set was free so that's why I have so many

NOTE: I did not push the lens all the way into the housing
**I have the "brake light mod" done so i had to use my flashers to light up the top section. Flashers are also LED bulbs**

THE TAIL LIGHTS

Smoked atlezza and oem (don't mind the center part being cut out)
OEM is there only to point out that the inner tail light is not chromed. just a grey/silver finish

Oem style chromed housings and atlezza with inner lens removed

ON CAR...

This is the chrome oem housing with the oem lens. notice its a brighter red

Atlezza housing with oem lens
...Gives the appearance of one big light instead of two

Smoked atlezza with oem lens
Almost gives a blackhousing effect

Hopefully this'll be helpful for somebody

It's funny....before I sold my 6th gen....I bought a set of OEM taillights to work on an LED mod. This would've helped me but I truly don't see any big differences in the lights.

Hmm. Good info. When you took apart the oem pair, did you think it would be possible to grind or sand off the reflecting divers of the oem lenses? I was wondering if would be possible to get the smooth two compartment look without after market sets. Sort of like asianfunkyflips led taillights

Possibly. That'd be a lot of work though but yeah all the distortion in the lens is cause from how the inside of it is designed

I have been wanting to do something like this for a while, since so many newer cars like the frs/brz have bad *** aftermarket tail lights ...while we have no tail lights to update our rear ends appearance.
even though the body lines make everyone think that the car was made in 2010.. :flipthebird: aftermarket parts.

Nice work. I really do like the subtle change but..

This looks really bad *** w/ your CF trunk imho.

Especially if it was lightly smoked, or lightly smoked + red 'n clear.

Side note: Is it just me that your roof spoiler looks blue, or it's just the glare?

Altezza housing with OEM lens looks good.

I think it was you that mentioned you didn't bother with reverse lights, or are you going to do the custom reverse light mod in the licence plate area?
