I'm working on replacing the "leakless gasket" to take care of an ongoing issue with my 6GA, that I believe is causing my car to overheat now.

Working on getting the leakless gasket replaced has been a bit more difficult than anticipated. It looks like you have to remove #8 to replace #9 (the leakless gasket). However, I can't figure out how to remove #11 (passage pipe) from #8 (Water Passage). The lower intake manifold is in the way for direct access to #11 for removal from #8. I'm thinking that the lower intake manifold has to be removed to allow access for removal? True?

If true, how is the lower intake manifold removed? I've never had to do that before. The fuel rails have to be removed, which means that the injectors come out. But how are the fuel rails secured to the intake manifold? After that, it looks like the bolts / nuts that secure the lower intake manifold should be easy to access.

If not true, because #11 (the pipe) seems to separate from #8 (water passage) based on the parts diagram, is there a way to separate the #11 (pipe) from the #8 (water passage) that I'm not seeing? If so, how? Does it just pull off? Is there a clip or something that needs to be removed that will allow for #8 (water passage) to be removed?

What am I missing here that will allow the #8 water passage to be removed?

Behind the sensor plug (yellow) you can see the #11 pipe. The sensor plug is attached to #8 water passage.

What would retorquing the bolts do? The water passage is loose but still somehow attached to the tube.

Let me ask one of my techs and I'll get back to you.

*Edit - Make sure you have has many bolts removed as in #9 b/c some you can't see. There's a small nub on the waterpipe, take a pry bar and pry there to pop the water passage off the pipe. That should do the trick. You don't have to remove anything else.

Thanks. Yea, I have two bolts and 6 nuts for #8. It's just "floating" now and I can pivot it and pull / push on it slightly so I know it's only being held on by just the tube at this point.

I'll do what you said and use a pry bar. Hopefully I can get this done tonight.

Ended up doing finishing the job today. I started in the morning and doing the prybar trick worked like a champ! I had to "walk" it off though because it didn't just slide off as easily as I thought it would have.
