Does anybody have a recommendation for a rear view/backup camera for the 98 - 02 Honda Accord? I don’t feel like spending $100. I want to try the $20-$50 range cameras. I’m also thinking about replacing the license plate light with a camera with a light and infrared, but if not possible, maybe just a license plate mounted one. It’s going to be on a Kenwood DNX 5140. Also, is there a wire that is recommended to connect the power wire to?

In case anybody is wondering about the double din dash install kit, it’s the K6830 on ebay. Everything on it is plastic, and you do have to carefully trim off some tabs that are not used, which is no big deal. I am very satisfied with the trim’s fitting and quality.

Also need a recommendation on a headrest monitor, too. I'm thinking about getting an Axxess ASWC steering wheel control instead of the PAC SWI-PS because I heard that the PAC SWI lags like your mom. Come on, there's gotta be someone out there who has done all this!

I've got a boyo on mine. It wasn't too bad drilling into the lid to get the wire into the car. It works pretty well. I would stay away from cheap stuff, especially stuff that's difficult to rewire.

As for monitors you can take your pick. Since our headrests are tiny you'll get stuck with a small monitor. I put some myron and davis 5" monitors in mine, but honestly they have had about an hour of play time in 5 years. I would spend the money on some good front speakers.

Well, I've got two kids, so I will definitely be using the headrest monitors. I kinda want a monitor that has the oem look. So did you have to splice any wires to power the rear view camera? I'm also thinking about getting a single subwoofer in the trunk. Trying to save space for the 2 strollers. What do you think about Pyle and Audiovox? They sound kinda generic to me. Post some pictures of your deck, camera, amp & speakers.

At some point my pages got out of order but here is a link to the whole install. Let me know if there is something else that I need to answer for you.

I don't have pics of the camera, it's a simple stick style. It's nicely tucked up out of the line of site. I just tapped into a switched power lead up near the deck. That way the reverse trigger just switches the input on the H/U.

I've installed a few cheaper monitors and the main differences are the pixels being out, the bezel not being very sturdy, and terrible off axis viewing which may be a big problem depending on the size of the children.
