wow..I'm surprised at you guys...no one has bothered to get the most important information..

What is the computer doing that makes you think it has spyware, a trojan or virus?

When you scan and it brings up this spyware/trojan/virus that you cannot get rid of what's the name of it?

Don't take it to geek squad. 99% of trojans, virus's and spyware can be googled for remedies which is what they do.

In the 1st post he said that

Well my parents being the newbs that they are to computers somehow downloaded spam/trojan virus onto their comp but somehow its my fault and they want me to fix it.
thats why we told him what to do.

Maybe when he runs Symantec it says that trojans are infecting his comp. and can not be deleted. Happened to me once.

Norton gives the names and a description of any trojan/virus that is found. Most of the time spyware too.

Anti-Virus

#1 First of all why are you using Norton? Its the worse software. I worked at Office Depot for a year and I know this. Here's what u do:

1. Run antivirus in safe mode to see what the problem is
2. Once you discovered the problem, if its a virus get PCCILLEN antivirus software trust me it works.
3. If that doesn't work you may have to save all your information on that computer onto a hard drive and use system recovery to return your computer to its factory form. Unfortunately, if you use system recovery youll lose all data.
4.Never call Geek Squad cause they suck and charge b.s. prices.
5. If all else fails tell pops to ask hid friend to fix it.
6. Switch to a Mac cause macs never generate viruses.

GOOD LUCK :peace:

norton sucks. people make viruses specifically to go around norton and mcaffee.

www.pcpitstop.com run a scan, make sure it's a virus.
uninstall **** like poker toolbars and whatnot,
and get NOD32 or KASPERSKY antiviruses.

This is my PARENTS computer, not mine.

The files are: These are what's showing up as a "System Alert" on their screen like every 2 seconds.

Tojan-Spy.win32@mx
Win32.Trojandownloader.zlob
PSW.x-Vir
Trojan.peacom

If you know the file location...just go into safe mode and delete the file. Thats what I did. If you know the .exe name, you can just run a search for it.

Also, try Spybot Search & Destroy and install Tea Timer with it. Thats how I learned what file was infecting my computer.

Sure deleting the .vb or the virus's .exe will work for a virus that does not mutate and infect other files. Must are coded to infect all exe's or even image files on your computer. So really to get rid of some you're forced to reformat.

Bottom line is if you don't open unknown emails, don't goto porn sites, don't download cracks, keygens or programs from so called hacking sites or untrusted sites without scanning the EXE, RAR, ZIP, Torrent etc..before clicking on it you will NEVER get a virus. I've been online for close to 11 years now and I've never had a virus, I've NEVER had a virus scanner or similar program on my computer. The only thing I run now is spyware and that's it. And I'm probably one of the biggest pirates you will ever meet lol.
