Hey 6thgen, I'm a newbie at this kind of stuff but still learning. I got a 1999 automatic honda accord lx with 188,*** from my parents to commute to work and school. The bad part about it is that the tranny started going ape **** on me, shifting when slowing down or staying in a low gear. I want to fix this car, but I need some help. I read about F23 tranny's, they suck. I was wondering what would be another solution besides finding another automatic f23 tranny. Would the H series work? Please help...

You could swap in a 5spd tranny from another 6GA, that would be the most straightforward after swapping in another auto.

^^^what Chris said would be the most logical route other than swapping in another auto transmission. Look to spend somewhere in the range of ~1500-2000 on it.

The H-series itself is a motor, not a transmission

That was basically the price range for the 5 spd swap...an auto swap should be less as you do not have to change the ecu, interior components, etc.

I wouldn’t base a major car repair on a girlfriend. Wife maybe, but not girlfriend. Swapping to manual will render the car much more reliable, and for a longer period of time. And of course, more fun. If you want another auto, get another f23 auto, but realize that it may die on you as well.

Fast said the estimate on the swap above. An auto replacement would be less, as long as you got a good deal on the parts/labor.

i paid 1600 to get my v6 auto rebuilt last time.. it was at 270,xxx mi... when it happened...

when i sold the car it was 290,xxx mi and was starting to show the failness of the auto tranny...

and I'm pretty sure the i4 auto tranny are similar :lawl:

use the sites search function...there are many threads on those swaps and even one with a comprehensive list of the needed parts. a lot of people have done them, so if you have any questions feel free to post in those threads
