Alrighty people... I'm sure we have talent in this forum so thought I'd add this one. Hope its on the right spot

So, feel free to comment, suggest, compare gear/instruments, or post pics or videos or you jammin'!

Anyways, I'll start, of course:

So, been playing hand percussion (congas, bongos, djembe, timbales, cajon, etc) for about 10 years now. I got into playing drum set as well about 5 years ago but don't have a setup at home I could practice more on. I like rock, jazz, latin music and can play fairly well.

About a month ago, picked up an acoustic guitar cause I always wanted to learn something with notes - you know, melody to make music. So I'm very excited to learn, I'm a total nooB at it and picked up a few books, charts and videos to learn. I'll update with some pics of my instruments later.

Not really much I can add here as far as talent but I've always wanted to learn how to play the acoustic guitar. I have only practice a bit at my friend's back when I used to live in NY.

Not really having the time to get into anything I have pretty much given up on it but I have never forgotten how my fingers itch every time I hear a good acoustic song on the radio.

Let me know what kind of material exactly you're going to use for lealrning. I can always get a cheap guitar and give it a go and if I can really grasp the concept I can always get something better for pursuing it at a higher level.

I play/have played in a bunch of bands and projects. I've went to school for audio engineering 6 years ago and have a studio at my condo. I record for a few people including some hip hop artists locally and a Spanish music singer who also does 90's rock and used to be really big in Miami in the 90's in a band called Natures Origin. Anyways, I play the guitar, bass, drums, piano well pretty much everything and I sing as well in all my bands and projects, but my main focus is and has always been vocals and acoustic guitar. Right now I have a solo thing I do that I call The Mockingbird Theory.

I used to dabble in guitar but I don't have the hands for it. My fingers aren't as long and limber as needed to play a mean guitar, lol. I have written a good number of songs, lyric-wise though. I'd also like to pick up bass guitar one day...

Cool, well I picked up a couple of books with cd's to follow along. They're both by Hal Leonard. One is Guitar Method and the other is Fretboard Roadmaps, Beginning Guitar (i kinda like this one better) I had a friend who play guitar and bass guide me through technique (how to hold guitar and position fingers) and already play a few chords and transition back and forth (still delayed a bit). I've even incorporated a capo on a few chords and learning those as well. ... but like any instrument, you just need to practice, practice, practice... and practice. Its hard for me with work and 3 kids and all, but better late than never I guess.

I picked up a Seagull Entourage Acoustic at Guitar Center and love it! Great quality, awesome acoustic sound and beautifully hand made, in Canada eh! I think I'm keeping this one for years to come! Glad I didn't buy an entry level Yamaha for the price.

Thanks man. Yea, some of those are random some are tried at lol. Me an my sister are going to start playing bar here in Dallas and do a bunch of covers like the civil wars and the lumaneers and Mumford and sons type stuff... She's an amazing singer. Should be fun! I have been in music all my life. Right now I'm actually running sound for a classic rock band. Lol I guess I should get off here and get back to work.

^Kyle I checked out ghosts from home a couple of weeks ago and I was going to tell you that it sounded great.

I use to play the sax for 10 plus years but lost my chops many a moons ago..
I am not shabby at some rock band bass
Had a set of electronic drums for many years and lived with a guy that played drums from the Group "survivor" aka "eye if the tiger"
I don't know if you would consider a Deejay a musician but I mixed at a local club here in Nashville for a year before they closed. I also was on a top 40 radio station as a DJ for 4 years on the weekends. I guess that's more of a talent but I did get to mix some crazy songs back in the early 2000's while on air
