I stopped by a wheel repair shot in PA yesterday for an estimate on fixing my set of original 5Zigen FN01R-C wheels. For those who don't know, these wheels have been discontinued for some time now as there is a new "Hot" version out there in its place. Only a handful of sites still list them so I'll have to start making phone calls this week.

The shop gave me an estimate of $250 to repair my worst looking wheel. This puts a maximum cost of $1k as the other wheels are in better condition. The shop is confident that they can do the repairs and it looks like I can get a set of replica stickers for only $25 on eBay.

Does it seem illogical to spend around $1k on repairing a set of wheels when I paid less than $800 for the set brand new 6 years ago? Everyone around me thinks that I'm crazy.

No way. Sell them for anything you can and get some other clean wheels.

Definitely just unload them and use the money to put towards a new set

If you love them, just get a quote to see how much it would be to repair any curbage and the bends. All those chips and what not can be fixed for cheaper if you just paint them.

If you’re not attached to these, I’d fix em up the best you can, sell them, and buy some new wheels. You can find some nice stuff for $1k.

Those are the "cast" version. Nope.

If they were the forged version, maybe.

I've never liked 5zigen wheels until Darius showed me the 17x10 version:
