Painting Rear Drums

have any one tried to paint their rear drum brakes yet? cause mine is very rusty, i tried cleaning it with a brake cleaner and a wire brush but remains the same, im just planning to paint it black or grey? anyone done it before? if yes then pics will be much appreciated. thanks ! :bowdown:

It's been done before. Use [very] rough sand paper. Black paint.

Black for sure. And a good wire brush and brakleen should do the trick. Check out the. "Painting calipers" thread for ideas.

Brakleen is normal brake cleaner. But if your looking for cheaper, you could use any brake cleaner you want. Gotta remember though using better quality products on your car will guarantee better quality results.

brake cleaner is brake cleaner, look at the ingredients on the expensive can and compare to the store brand.

Do not cheap out on the paint.

Wire brush brings the suck, wire wheel on a grinder however....

Make sure to use the high temp paint. Might want to treat the metal with some rust converter if it's badly pitted and can't get the rust out of the pits, otherwise it will just spread under the paint and ruin it.
