I am beyond pissed at this point! Luckily, my neighbor gave me a sweet microbrew after seeing me cursing and annoyed...

I replaced my drivers lock actuator to fix what most threads said was the cause of my door lock locking but not opening on the drivers door. I took the panel off, took the window out, took the window guide out. This after slicing holes in my weather barrier because it wouldn't pull away from the sticky glue holding it to the door!

Got the new one on, replace the tiny screws that I swear GM or Ford had something to do with designing! Hit the lock switch - NOTHING! Same problem - Remote or lock switch locks the door, but doesn't open it.

Is there anything else that can be causing this electrical problem??
:lolhitting:

AK,
After reconnecting everything were you trying to work the switch with the door open? Honda usually requires that you hold the inner door handle out while using the switch. It's to keep you from accidentally locking yourself out. Also, what year is your accord? I have a 99 and I did not have to remove the window just the window guide to get to those tiny screws. Also, make sure you did not forget to reconnect the door lock switch. Good luck.

i wonder if you got a bad actuator ?

I have replaced 2 lock actuators in my car and I usually test the actuator motor make sure they spin as I play with the power door lock button.

I basically hold the actuator unit in my hand and plug it into the power plug and watch the motor spin and make noise as I press the power door lock up and down.

If you are saying that your actuator does LOCKS the door but DOES NOT unlock which I believe it may be the actuator itself. The last time I check there is no science to the power doorlocks. If you are getting power to the actuator and it just wont go into the UNLOCK position which lead me to believe you got a bad actuator.

By the way, did you get a new OEM from dealer or did you get an aftermarket from Pepboys or Autozone ? Did you get a used one ?

Let me know how your progress goes.

What are the odds of my actuator only locking the door, then my brand new (purchased from the Honda dealer) actuator doing the same thing??

As I put back the window, it occurred to me that I may have gotten away with just removing the track. Next time I guess, although I swore I would sell the car rather than doing this again!

wow, you were able to take off your panel and everything with the lock locked? Was your door closed? lol your lucky.

I had the same problem and my door was stuck closed. I couldn't take the panel off or anything so i had to bust the locking mechanism. When I replaced it, it didnt work. I had to connect everything back so that it would work. nonetheless, good luck

No, the door lock can be opened by pulling the button up. It just wont pop up when I use the lock switch or the remote.
