Updated the list, after getting a huge maintenance job done, which was supposed to be completed by June lol. Took forever to collect all parts for this on my own, since my shop could only charge me with Acura dealer retail price for the parts. The delay pulled me behind until late September, but it was worth being patient during the shipments, and it's all running smooth with all fresh studs n bolts! Ended up replacing the fuel injectors, instead of cleaning, since a couple of them were cracked. Got the oil pressure switch also replaced, and there seems to be no more leaky situations happening from the P.S. pump & the oil pump areas by now. The motor idles sooo smoooth now... But, just b/c of that, the car vibrates quite noticeably by the old motor mounts now lol. Onto get those new ones next. Happy Thanks Giving Day To Everyone!!
Well, this motor restoration project is taking forever, but I'm still here! Big new updates to come up really soon. There's going to be one last major parts replacements game happening, before this motor gets into the Accord's engine bay, later in the future. Actually, this replacement stuff can / should be done all together at the motor swap, but the Accord is really being difficult to be treated as a daily beater anymore, and I found this CL to be very convenient when she becomes more drivable. Hence, in order to make this CL as a reliable car once again, there is going to be a few big replacements coming up to further restore her condition to a decent level. Here's my list of sections:
• Clutch & flywheel
• Motor mounts + brackets
• Transmission mounts (components only)
• Exhausts manifold gaskets & head gaskets
• Fuel rails
• Cylinder head bolts
• Camshaft thrust covers
• Thermostat switch o-ring
• Cylinder block's rear main oil seal
• Starter motor
• Alternator
• Exhausts manifold headers + A-pipe
• HID Ballast + bulb (driver's side only)
• Motor oil + oil filter
• Manual transmission fluid
• A/C recharging
These sections are still focused on the motor swap, minus the A/C work & an HID ballast. All parts are new, except for the ballast. It took me a while for me to collect all of these parts from Acura on my own, but with my buddy's help, I'm happy that all of the parts are going to be installed with new OEM nuts, bolts, studs, and brackets from the factory. However, some of those OEM parts and components were discontinued as a whole assembly, due to the age and rarity of the model. With that said, some of the existing parts on the vehicle (i.e. some motor mount brackets & the transmission mounts w/ components) are going to be reused. Fingers cx'ed.. Btw, the factory starter motor I got for this CL is from '04 - '06 base TL. It's because the OEM 6MT CL starters were sadly discontinued long ago, but this remanufactured one will work w/o any issues. It has been cross referenced with the Acura dealership's parts department guys to verify the compatibility. Other Accord owners with swapped motors are also running these starters with no problem for years. Also, there are four sections listed above are aftermarket brands with **one exception** in terms of fitment.
AFTERMARKET PARTS LIST:
• Clutch + flywheel = EXEDY / LUK OE replacement
• Motor mounts = INNOVATIVE OE replacement
• Alternator = DENSO OE replacement
• Exhausts mani headers & A-pipe = **DC SPORTS** (HHS5528 stainless steel for
AT tranny CL)
**(Since the piping is shaped for the auto CL, it needs to be hammered and bent. I was also given a choice of getting the AT motor mount instead, in order to run this header piece without applying any modifications on it. But I also heard and believe that perhaps it might be worth customizing this header, than exchanging the mount with one of my nearly purchased motor mounts. Not only this HHS5528 DC headers becoming hard to come by, but I will also have to go through more of those ordering processes to exchange and repurchase the additional parts components for the AT mount in these frequently backordered freight moving chaotic societies. Once it's bent, it will look similar to the Comptech's headers, I suppose.)**
The cylinder heads will be cleaned, machined, and pressure-tested as well. I thought about throwing my Accord's old stock suspension parts into this CL, since her struts are getting weak, but this could wait.
This is so exciting! Once it's done, I get to drive a fresh 6-6, yet as a beater for a while!
