The HP line shouldn't be too bad. Break it off/cut it off at the rack and put a socket on the fitting. Worst part is gonna be snaking it in/out.
A did replace my hp power steering line due to the leak of the old one. As @BlkCurrantKord stated: the most difficult will be to snake out the old line, and snake in the new one. Agree with him. Most work is laying underneath the car  But its doable! Just a bit of patience and a time. Good luck!

What range of your 40s are you in? I just started, so I want to know what I'm looking forward to....or not! :lawl:

I am 42 as of this year. Actually turning 40 was fine, 41 was when aging became a little more noticeable haha. I'm more tired at the end of the day, I grunt whenever I get up from the couch, I yell at kids to get off my lawn, etc etc. :lawl:

Something interesting my physician told me was that in your 40's your body does not build muscle as easily as in your 30's, so it is important to make sure you are eating enough (more) protein. And of course exercising/working out is in there....somewhere. I am still trying to find the time/motivation/energy to do that, hard with working a full time job and having 4 kids haha.

Thanks for weighing in! I saw someone in a video tied a long string to the end of the line so that when they pulled it out they could follow the string to route the new line back in. One of my main concerns was the line/rack connection point...disconnecting the old and connecting the new. Still not sure if that's just nuts & bolts or something more specialized/painful.

So I'm right behind you at 41! :lawl:

Yeah, I'm noticing things as well. Since my last promotion at work I'm a lot more static and have more food options, so I've gained something like 20lbs in the last year :ugh:. Then it's queue the sciatica with that. In the last couple days I've been noticing my left leg has electrical type sensations going down my hamstring and into the bottom of my foot. It's just my body's way of telling to get up and go work out and do some exercise. Like you though, having a family, kills the time and energy to do anything healthy for myself.

Not so sure if I ever revealed my age up here, but I'm 46.:hide: There were two major changes I noticed to my body, when I entered into the 40's -- joints & muscles.

Used to have no problems of working on the engine bay by standing and leaning against the bay for hours in my 30's. but not so much anymore, due to my weak lower back that I damaged when I was younger. Hand washing my car has always been very therapeutic to me, but my knees didn't agree with me last time. The driver was on the limp mode the next day, instead of the car.

I'm getting far sightedness, because I started to prefer moving things on my hand away from my face to get a better focus. Things get blurry and out of focus when they start to get closer than 10 inches to my face. I have a friend who's 10 years older than me, and she tells me that I'll be definitely wearing glasses within a year.

Getting old sucks.

I want to be able to still wash my cars by hand. I want to still be able to wrench on my cars.

I'm going to a cars and coffee tomorrow, and while I know my 6GA isn't going to be the cleanest car there, she is real clean for her age and mileage. She also has something that no other car there will have, and that's the 412k miles.

That's said, I spent the afternoon cleaning her up so that for once, she's not "Dirty Girl" as she's been come to be known. I'm laying down in bed right now and my lower back is definitely bothering me. I can feel that electrical sensation starting to flare up again. This getting old crap, sucks, lol.

I shall rename this thread to "Old a$$ members complaining compilation thread". :lawl:

Oh man, sciatica is no fun. Hope that doesn't flare up too harshly for you.

Right? Hard NOT to lead a sedentary lifestyle with so many responsibilities. Unless you're one of those people that can get up at 6am to work out before going to work. Which, I am NOT. haha

Lower back is a very common pain point. Mine was sore for a few days after leaning over my engine bay replacing the valve cover gaskets and all that comes with. The car being lower probably made that worse, too. Low life problems amiright? :lawl:

Yea I hear you on the knee thing with hand washing. Buuut I refuse to go through a car wash, soo I'm screwed there. haha

Getting old sucks.

Get that checked out pronto. I herniated a disc at 24, I did the routines of PT and cortisone shots before I couldn't take the pain anymore and had the surgery at 25. Now my right hip flexors are tight as hell and no amount of stretching I've done over the years has loosened them. However, I will say that even though my lower back is a little weaker, I've had zero issues since. I was also playing baseball with stitches in my back like three weeks later too, lol. My parents were not fond of that at the time.

lmao, you guys are a trip. I'm 41. But, no kids or wife. I just stay as active as I can or want to. Bike, hike, walk, kayak. I don't play hardball anymore but I might get back into it at some point.

How bad was your herniated disk? Do you have a high, moderate, or low pain threshold? Were you in so much pain that you couldn't walk anymore or did you just have the lower back pain and loss of sensation in your leg(s)?

And having a family changes your lifestyle. Even if no family, but are married / in a long term relationship, your lifestyle isn't the same as being single.
