I'd say I have a pretty high pain tolerance, I mean it put me in tears one day, and that's pretty hard to do. I could walk but I couldn't straighten my leg out or put much weight on it or it'd shoot intense pain through my butt and leg. The pain was mostly in my upper calf and right through the butt cheek/thigh area. I didn't feel any weird sensations to my foot until after the surgery. I did kind of re-learn how to use that leg and the muscles again.

Definitely good stuff to know!

I'll hold up until I can barely walk, lol.

I've told my doctor about it already, and he was like, " you're just tight right here on your lower back. Here, let me put pressure on it and you'll be good." He did that and I was like, "it doesn't feel any better." His reply? "Give it a day or two."

Honestly, if I had to do it again, not that I'd want to, I'd just get the surgery and be done. One of my friends has had it twice and ended up having her spine fused. Of course, she wouldn't listen to me when I told her to stop doing crossfit to lose weight.

Mine was L5/S1 - Where's yours at?

Not sure where mine is at. I just know it's my lower back just above where my spine needs my pelvis.

Maybe I should go see the doctor :hide:

Never hurts to get a second opinion too. If you don't 100% trust the doc you are seeing.

GL, back stuff is no fun. I remember once at work I was leaning back in my chair arching my back and stretching my arms up and I must have gone too far cuz I had intense pain that made it painful to even take a full breath. It was scary for a bit, I went outside for fresh air and to move around and I felt dizzy & nauseous. But after a couple minutes it went away and I was sore for a few days. I tweaked it again once just changing my kid's diaper on the floor (don't wanna hear how easy your life is, Greg :lawl:) and the same thing happened again but on a much smaller scale - not nearly as bad.

I got some exercises from my older sister who is a PT, and been good ever since (several years ago now). I am careful about how I move my back now though, when stretching or moving anything.

Doesn't sound like it compares with what you guys have had, but just another old man sharing his bodily grievances. :lawl:

I am working on getting the Accord back on the road. The “interesting” thing has been how much prices of parts have gone up since I last bought anything, which has been a long while. I picked up a battery (I was amazed the car fired right up), replaced the rear brake rotors/pads, & I need to do engine/trans oil changes. Then I’ll be taking it to a shop to have the power steering high pressure line replaced, & get the clutch fluid bled. Before I drop it off I am thinking I will take off the headlights which need some renewing/resealing. I will have to look around on it to see if anything else pops out as needing work. I feel like I should start replacing control arms & other suspension pieces. I never did finish the heated PFM's.

The tires on the A-specs are 9 years old & I was set on replacing them, but they are Bridgestones with almost new tread and they don’t seem hard/rotted, rubber is still quite pliable. The car has been garaged so I am going to try driving on them & see how they do.

Wife & used some tax refund money to fix rust/paint issues on our Odyssey since we have decided to keep it long term with how crazy car prices have gotten. I wish I had known about the chipping paint defect issue before we bought a white one though. I even see it on newer Odysseys only a few years old. Don’t buy a white Honda. Anyway the guy did a pretty good job, I may have him do the same on the Accord next year. Yes putting a couple grand into a 26yr old Honda w/217k miles makes no sense financially, but my hopes and dreams of attaining any of my actual dream cars (’97 Viper GTS, ’03 BMW M5, V8 Mercedes wagon to name a few) are no longer realistic, between either appreciation or just general affordability due to my life situation. So, just going to enjoy what I already own.

And to enjoy the Accord, it needs to look its best. Once it does, I’ll get new tires for the Works wheels & slap those on which will be exciting. I may look into modernizing its look a bit with a splitter kit of some kind.

White is a notorious color for premature failure, regardless of car brand.

Yes and no. I view vehicle repairs as "the car payment" vs an actual car payment. On my Accord, I've got less than $200 YTD in repairs, oil changes and 1x ATF D&Rs included. It does need a new catalytic converter though, so that'll be a $1,000 repair right there. But still, that's averaging out to a little over $110/mo over 12mo. at the current rate.

I feel this. It's how I want my Accord to be as well and it pains me to see the paint sun baked and the front seats all tore up.

This is a good perspective to maintain. I probably neglected some maintenance on my Accord over the years, but it still kept going and never gave me problems. It has been a super cheap car to own. It had EGR valve here, sway bar link there, etc. Course I also spent a few grand on the swap to make it more reliable back in 2011, so there's that. But kept up with oil changes and the like religiously.

Amen brother.
