if shes just going to be going around town, pick up a 2000-ish crew cab taco.

a full size truck in the city sucks...and she doesnt really need a v8/full size unless she's hauling THAT often.

edit: 5g's isnt going to go too far, at least for age/options/mileage...

well...she really just wants the convenience of having her own truck with 4 seats. doesnt necessarily have to be a 4 door. and she does not really need a V8 now that i think about it. (her GS gives her too much freedom to think shes a freaking indy driver)

she hates to ask/rent trucks or borrow my car and treat it like a mule.

There is no way you'll get into a 2000+ Taco x-cab with a V6 and an Auto for under $5000. Those things hold their value like nothing else.

I'm with Ryan....but if I had to choose between a Ranger and an S-10, it would be the Ranger hands down with the 4.0.

Those Ford 4.0's are bulletproof......it's the transmission you have to worry about. Although, I had a 94 Explorer a while back, and my dad routinely used it to tow his 28 foot boat. Got rid of it when it had 189k/mi on it, and it still ran perfect so iono.
