you can get a tacoma, but you might want look into beefing up the rear suspension just in case if she takes a load a tad bit to heavy for it.

It's not just the suspension that determines towing/hauling capabilities. Semi-floating and full-floating axles determine how much load it can carry.

When I hear plants, I hear dirt too. A Tacoma isn't going to be able to handle a full bed of black dirt if she plans on doing that.

just the other day i picked up my f23a4 w/ trans and an extra trans in my father in law's 2003 4cyl. tacoma ... i picked it up from walnut and took it all the way to the san fernando valley, it didn't struggle one bit ... it was approx. 60 miles, it didn't guzzle up my gas either ...

That's only like 600 lbs :lawl:

1000 lbs is peanuts for those things.

Hence the term "1/2 ton truck" :lawl:

the most it will tow (i mean carry..she aint towin **** i believe) is people, plants, and furniture. nothing heavy duty...i hope

Will she be actually towing w/hitch and all? How about a 1st gen Odyssey? Might not be what she's looking for though.....

A four door 6cyl Frontier would be a good truck as well, but like the Taco, you won't get into one for under 5k. An older Nissan Hardbody........now that's a different story....talk about a bullet proof truck.....
