bringz it :ownedrun:

Data in the chart below shows paper shredder sales in recent years, where x is the number of years after 1990 and y is sales in millions. Complete parts from a through d.

x, y
10, 285
11, 297
12, 311
13, 329
14, 357
15, 412

a) Use regression to fit an exponential function y=ab^x to the data. What is the value of a and b?

Now convert the formula y=ab^x to an exponential function, base e, where x is the number of years after 1990. Determine the exponential growth rate, k.

What is the exponential function?

b) estimate the sales of paper shredders in 2012. (answer in $ million)

c) After what amoun of time will sales be $600 million?

d) What is the doubling time for sales of shredders?

mah fobz and i tried doing this for the last 2 hrs and we can't get the first part becos we have no graphing calculator :ownedrun:

I have a graphing calc...but I don't know how to do calc. I stopped at trig, that was enough for me.

sin x = 0 when x = 0 or x = 360 in degrees

I'll take a crack at the topic problem later when I find a graphing calculator xD
