OEM most of the time is better for the car. i would want to say always cause not all the time is OEM better. but do shop around. even though your car is high miles, and you have kept it in the family since the start and giving it 5w20 or 30 just get those. and if they offer you higher viscosity, dont take it.
as of right now, i dont do my own oil changes. but if i were to, i would shop around to find the lowest valvoline and also the best sae grade on them. but 3.50 sounds okay imo
