Re: j35 swap

i got the accord for free and it only has 20k miles on it, i have some1 that wants to buy my tranny and some1 else who wants my motor so that's 1k pocketed... i'm only really looking at 2.5k total with these mods and that's mostly just labor

Re: j35 swap

sounds right to me...

i do wonder how much weight 2 more of everything (lol) adds. i mean...not counting transmissions...

From wiki, the J30 weighs 250lbs

From swappedandboosted.com, the shipping weight for the F23A1 is 220lbs. Subtract maybe 40lbs for the crate....180lbs??

Re: j35 swap

it only takes ~1 hour to drop the k-frame/motor. if you've got the funds to do a full engine/trans swap at one time, go for it. if not, i'm a firm believer in doing mods progressively while saving up...

the j35 ecu/Richies harness is going to be double/triple the cost of a cls 6mt ecu/engine harness. it doesn't really matter what engine you end up with, but the CLS 6mt ecu/matching engine harness will be your cheapest/most reliable/most plug-and-play setup. even if you swap a j35 out of an oddy, all you have to do is re-pin a few of the ecu connectors for the cls engine harness and you're done. p.s., boring these motors is a recipe for disaster, spec tolerances are close to maxxed as it is.

not sure where you got this info, but the only real weight loss this setup will see is by losing the AT in favor of the MT. otherwise, any weight differences between the two motors are negligible

I'm impressed at anyone who's able to drop a K-Frame in 1 hour. My mechanic Paul who is building these Jseries monsters is only able to drop the K-Frame in about 1.2 hours or so.....

Please double check and triple check your information on the boring information. When you bore it to a 3.6, you still have enough tolerance to boost up to 15psi. When you bore up to 3.7, you will not be able to safely boost unless you get it resleeved from darton ($1000) then you can get up to 30PSI

Properly built Jseries engine will be lighter because of the forged components it will be using. Such as the crank, forged pistons and rods etc.

Of course a stock one will not make much of a difference, but then again, the weight savings from AT to MT is HUGE!

Dude, I think we all know who Paul is at this point......

and IMO I don't really like the tone of your posts. they sound, idk, elitist.... maybe that's just me.

hrmm...i'm my own builder, so dropping the k-frame in 1 hour is...how do you say...first hand knowledge, not um...second, or...heard from what my builder said. i've done it 3 times...

i guess we all have different comforts in pushing an unsleeved block to its limits...those of us who build a motor with reliability/long life in mind know that boring a j-series AND boosting 15psi is a recipe for early retirement...but like i said, we all have different comforts...

oh btw, my build CAME along nicely, and i know the builder...it's me, and i built a boosted j36 in a 6ga. i think it's the first one? :p

read up on my car/build/profile before you start throwing around comments like "get educated..." especially when someone else has their hands in your engine bay while you have your hands on your keyboard...
