so i posted in v6p too..

So i have a 6spd swap....

anyways it was bumper to bumper traffic today on the 134....

i was in the fast lane so i decided to cut into the carpool lane, my car was at a complete stop,

so first gear took was fine...THEN

when i shifted to 2nd gear it wouldn't go in and i hear this grind...so i thought **** maybe i didn't put the clutch in all the way, so i just threw back to neutral..

then i tried going back to 2nd and it still wouldn't go in so i knew it was gone, so i just went straight to 3rd and drove...

all my other gears work fine but now when my car
is idle i hear like a knocking noise but once i put the clutch in the noise is gone, and 2nd sounds like metal grinding

PLEASE tell me its my clutch gone bad and not my tranny, thanks for the help

This would have my heart sinking too. If you let off the clutch and than went to third gear, your tranny might be ok. It sounds like the clutch. You have no other vibrations or issues in the other gears? Did you try downshifting really carefully into second?
Sounds to me that it is your clutch. Have you been shifting at hi rpm a lot? Hope you get it figured out man. It is really scary to have something like that happen. Got to a transmission specialist, not big chain, but smaller type place that specializes in imports and see what they can tell you. :eusa_doh:

I had a VERY similar problem with my 5spd and thought the tranny was junk. Turned out to be the clutch, even though it wasn't slipping.
