I'm not sure, considering they are legal where i live. I would consider buying one of the RD's that come in separate pieces for a stealth install - some sensors you put on your windshields and then you mount the actual unit somewhere in your dash. I know Escort makes one.

Can someone take a picture of theirs installed behind the rear view mirror and also how you have it hard wired? Thanks. I have mine on the bottom of the wind shield. As for the laser detector, by the time your detector picks up the laser signal, you are already by the cop, you have a 3 sec interval for a laser, as for the Ka and others its good for a 1/2 mile.
Basically what I've heard is that if your RD goes off from laser and you're speeding, it's just a "Hey you just got a ticket" notification. Not enough time to (safely) do anything about your speed.
But I think that pictures would help a lot. Post up your setup!

Pattywak you might want to check again, someone here in TN told me that they have made it illegal to have a RD in the car, that they can confiscate it and charge you with a ticket too. I asked one of the officers they said they werent sure but you might wanna double check.

i have my V1 mounted right above my rear view. it's hardwired in & then i have the remote (concealed) display in the pocket under my radio. i dont have any pics yet, but i need to take some.
The Nashville area. I'm from Hendersonville, but I go to school in Murfreesboro. And I'm pretty sure they are still legal in Tennessee...my friend has one and he's been pulled over recently and the officer didn't say anything about it. I'll look into it though.
Edit: Just looked it up, and they are still legal in TN.
This pic is from 2003, but the only thing that is different is the headunit.
The wire runs along the roof line, down the a pillar, inside the dash and The power is tapped into the power wire at the Power supply. I have a Mute button in place in the cubby hole under the headunit.
