Whoa I totally forgot about this post! the breather.... I am still looking into it. Seems like a easy thing to install.

then wouldn't all the hot gas be blown into the engine bay, defeating the purpose of any SRI?

A breather isn't going to rasie your bay temps. At WOT, it MIGHT blow a single drop of oil/gas out of the breather. During normal driving, nothing is giong to come out of there. This also goes for your PCV valve, no that you should put a breather on that.
