This is for a 2000 Honda Accord EX V6 Coupe I bought at 114,500 miles 3 weeks ago.
My dad's mech quoted me a couple prices...
-$200 to fix/clean the EGR Valve (no guarantee)
-$600 to replace the EGR Valve unit if cleaning does not work
So I went to another friend's mechanic and he quoted me less...
-$140 to clean the EGR ports
-$180 to replace the EGR with gasket cost
Then he suggested I do it myself to save $$.
I asked him if http://www.ehow.com/how_5005322_clean-egr-valve-honda.html would suffice and he said yes, as long as I clean the "intake plenum" as well.
What do you guys think? Should I give it a shot? I'm not much of a mechanic but I do like taking apart computers and modifying them. How hard is this job on a scale of 1-10? Risk level? I really have no idea what to do and where to start.
Thanks!!!
