I have a 1998 Accord LX M/T Sedan. I was wondering which clusters would work correctly in my car ranging from 1998-2002 between coupes and sedans. And if between ex/lx/dx models if it matters.
The sub-model (DX, LX, EX) is irrelevant, coupe/sedan is irrelevant, but the year of the cluster is vitally important to it working properly. If you have a 98, look for a 98 or 99 to be safe. I'm not 100% sure on the 00, but the 01 and 02 aren't entirely compatible...meaning that they'll plug in and work, but you'll have an incorrect temperature reading for as long as you're using that cluster.
Does anyone have any photos that they can post up so I can see the difference. I might purchase one off of ebay, but I want to make sure I get the right one.
Well you already know what the 98/99 clusters look like. The newer ones have gray-colored faces instead of black. When you look on eBay, you'll see the differences.
If it is that's probably why it's running all funny. Will the v6 cluster function correctly on my v4 car? Currently my CEL doesn't work and the temp gauge acts kinda funny.
I don't know enough about the backside of them to know if it's from a v6 or not. However, if your cluster has the automatic gear selector indicator lights on the frontside in between the fuel and temp gauges...then it'll be the incorrect cluster regardless of whether it's a i4 or v6 cluster. If you have an MT car, you must have an MT cluster...or else you'll experience the funny temp gauge issues as you stated you're already experiencing.
Yeah, if you try to use the newer clusters (either 01/02 or 00/01/02...can't remember off the top of my head), then when you turn the car on the temp gauge will immediately shoot up to hot regardless of the actual temperature reading.
Does anyone know if there are any physical differences in the clusters between v4 and v6 models and between the 98-99 and 00-02? I am having a hard time finding out the difference between the 2. And also would a A/T cluster work fine with a M/T car?
