Hi.

This was my first time having media access to a race event like this, and despite the fact that the people in charge of the media at D1GP were totally unorganized, I had a great time. First we were told we'd have access to the track both Friday (practice runs) and Saturday (event day) - then I got an email two days before Friday saying we couldn't be there Friday for whatever reason, but that'd we'd still have track access Saturday. I get there at 7:45am Saturday and head out to the track to shoot the guys who are out there doing practice runs. We're on the track for about an hour when the officials told us we couldn't be on the track, and we were all moved behind the fence. So we started cutting holes in the fences.

It's also worth noting this was the first time I got to use my new Canon 70-200 2.8 IS L lens I had got a few days before, which is nothing short of amazing. Worth every penny, the sharpness of the pictures is crazy. I can zoom to 100% crops and still have usable pictures, I love ittt

Anyways, enough rambling, D1GP was freaking awesome, here are the first round of pics:

Thanks man. And yeah when I took that shot and looked down at the LCD I was like WOAH. Haha, that's seriously how it came out of the camera, just resized.

Pretty much. Look up the "panning" technique. I'm going to sleep or else I'd explain more.

Plus the IS Mode 2 really helps for me, lol

Ah yes, my Hero Nomura Ken. LOL.

Good work Ray. Next time, push all the amateurs out of your way for your shots. LOL
