Here are your options for each aspect of your car:

Handling:
Upgrade suspension (lowering), whether that's spring/strut combo or coilovers
Upgrade rear sway bar
1-piece Strut bar

Aesthetics: (here's where our cars excel, lol)
Paint headlight housings
Custom grille
Lip kit
Aftermarket rims or other OEM
Tint windows

Lighting:
Add fog lights if you don't have them already
HID kit or retrofit headlights
LED lighting for interior/exterior
Change look of gauge cluster & console (some plug & play, some soldering)

Sound:
Cold air intake - yields no performance w/o trans swap
Maybe exhaust, but I would wait on this for reason above

Performance:
6spd swap - down the line for you

Also check out the DIY section/master list. That should get you started.

lol well if he doesn't want to spend the money on a trans swap right now, I doubt he'd spend it on turbo or SC. And doing either of those to an auto is not a good idea.

i would personally pic lowering springs over coilover... you get such a better ride with them... and it is a cheap mod...

^not cheaper because you need springs and struts, but the ride is more comfortable.

But if you buy used you can get a great combination for a great price.

Depends on how low you want to go, if you want adjustable height and/or stiffness, etc etc. Do some searching on here and check the suspension review thread for starters. Suspension is really tailored to an individual's taste, so after you know generally what you want, people can give you recommendations.
