The Thule fit kit 2027, instructs to locate the front rack 13 3/8" from the top of the windshield. To me it looked way too far back. I moved it about 6" to the front and it looks a lot better but still kinda far from windshield. I plan on using an older still Thule fairing which actually came off a basket but looks identical to the 555 fairing, just different located mounting holes and it measures 42". I will have to make my own mounting brackets or maybe use the newer style brackets if they would work. Anyone with a rack, where is your crossbar mounted in relation to the windshield or door frame?
