You would think so... But brake fluid isn't a very good lubricant, like p/s fluid, which has to circulate, and reduce heat and friction ect.
o.k. so you lose the lubricating factor with brake fluid. but being as they are both forms of hydraulic fluid and virtually non-compressable, mixing the 2 should have no real ill effect. The reason I bring this up is, I've repaired forklifts for the past 13 years and I have always used one or the other for both brakes and steering. Essentially you're using fluid power to turn a gear or attempting to compress it by applying the brakes. However I don't see any real adverse effects. Just my opinion though.
