i'm pretty sure i can come back, but there's always a risk for leaving the US without a re-entry visa guess we'll see then

You got and elevated % of not coming back since inmigration laws are more severe after 9/11. But you could always try to re-enter for many ways, get somebody to marry you I know for sure many ladies out there would do it for a few bucks. Anyways man if you know this was coming you should have plan this long time ago.
