so i just got this idea recently on a do it yourself project.

im wondering how hard it would be to buy a budget subwoofer, mono amp, wiring and install myself on my stock radio. i was thinking a shallow mount 10 or so and put it under my passenger seat. i want some extra bass without removing my nice stock radio because the kits are god awfully ugly. btw i drive a 05 accord coupe.

is this wishful thinking or what because i remember when i was first setting up a sound system in my car the installation from a car audio place was insane pricing and the guy said it wouldn't even sound good because of the stock radios preset eqs

i would need rca addapter and a clean sweep or this there a all in 1 product that would work?

something like this http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18562_Hifonics-Maxxsonics-MX-3.html

or an amp with everything built in. only looking to push 1 10 or 8 inch shallowmount sub

what you need is a line level converter
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Stereo-...ultDomain_0&hash=item3f12f6885d#ht_745wt_1072
i have had a line level converter in a 2010 cobalt pushing 2 12's and it sounded great!
it had no sound quality loss at all!

i HIGHLY advise NOT to go with a shallow mount sub... just get a low powered 12 such as a alpine type E or kicker comp

kicker
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_20610C...earch=Kicker+VENDORID206&searchdisplay=Kicker

Alpine
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SWE1243/Alpine-SWE-1243.html?tp=111&nvpair=FFBrand|Alpine

BOX
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SINGLE-12-I..._0&vxp=mtr&hash=item3cc0886203#ht_1594wt_1072

that box is a little big for that speaker but it will do the job
PORTED BOX those subs will sound like crap in a sealed box in my opinion..

and then push them with a 150-200W RMS amp and you will be in the money =]

AMP
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R1502/Rockford-Fosgate-Prime-R150-2.html?tp=35757

with only 200W RMS of power id recommend a 8-AWG wiring kit

wiring kit
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_211ZN3K08/StreetWires-ZeroNoise-3-ZN3K-08.html?search=8+AWG

TOTAL KICKER= $297.75 + Tax Free SHIP!
TOTAL ALPINE= $313.71 + Tax Free Ship!

Hope this gets you started bro

let me know if you need more help!

if you invest in an alpine amp you dont need the line level converter they come built in the amp just another option

be like it is
nothing but a couple $200-ish apiece specialty 8" drivers are going to fit under the seats, and even then, you'd want to fiberglass to get the most airspace. plus, there's seat motors under there. plus, a coupe's seats move constantly.

if your stock audio system has an outboard amp and/or an internal signal processor, youll definitely need something to clean up the signal.

and nothing is lower-profile than infinite baffle :D
