Long story short I have a stock exhaust, 140k miles on it, and recently obtained an OEM muffler tip from another member on here. My muffler (no holes/problems) is stock, old, discolored, and a little rusty. I want to refinish it so it blends with the new exhaust tip and overall looks clean. I was thinking some sanding and high temp paint? Anyone else ever refinish their stock muffler and tail pipe?

if you're going to sand it then prepared to be committed to it. start from 1000 grit then work your way up to get rid of the sand marks. 1000-1500-2000-3000. Then you can use a metal or aluminum polish to refine it. A good over the counter product I use is:

I remember a thread from H-T of an Integra owner who used steel wool and made his OEM muffler looking real nice.

Yeah I'd clean it up the best you can, then hit it with high temp flat black paint. Polishing that would be a *****.
