I've been raising/lowering my car (AMR's) for several seasons. Raising it is a breeze, but lowering it in the spring is getting worse every year because the threads take a beating in the winter.

I was going to start a separate thread looking for ideas on how to make that an easier job, but if the OP goes through with the F&F's, he'll need to know too.

What could go on the exposed threads during the winter to make it easier to shorten the coilover in the spring? Grease or petroleum jelly would only attract and hold grit, in my opinion. A rubber sleeve or boot might work, but whatever gets behind there like water and slop will be retained and could make it worse.

Any ideas?

Keep applying silicone spray on the threads.

If grit does build up, just clean it up and wipe everything off before you start adjusting the rings.

Andy can chime in with another solution.... he was custom covers that go over the coilovers and protect the valves and threads.
