played with some macro filters that were given to me. A +4 macro filter was used on both photos

Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 taken @ 11mm, f/2.8
Macro filter is only 67mm in dia (lens is 77mm) creating that motion blur look around the edges

w/ macro filters by Jonathan Boothe, on Flickr

tht's a cool picture. how did u mount a 67mm filter on a 77mm lens? a step-down adapter ring?

never heard of a macro filter.. only know ND and polarizer... what does it do?

i just held the filter in front it. close-up filters moved the focal distance closer to the lens so you can get closer to stuff. its the same idea as the front glass in a projector. ends up creating a narrower depth of field. I tried stacking all three macro filters on each other to get a +7 magnification and put it on my telephoto but the depth of field was too narrow. couldnt focus on anything, everything was blurry
