is that bad?

It's not necessarily a bad thing but the battery will act a buffer when there is a voltage swing. Your alternator voltage may drop down to a point where it could damage the power supply of the amp. You also could run into current problems. If I'm not mistaken the alternator is rated at around 100 amps and some beefy amps can pull more than that. In the long run you could possibly damage the amp and the alternator. Running a 1/0 from the alternator to the battery is a good idea, but I would run the power wire directly to the battery, fused within 18" of the battery.

In short, yes that's a pretty bad idea. You don't take power directly from the source especially something drawing more amperage than what the supply, can supply.

Use the grommet plug on the firewall but the throttle cable itll come thru just fine.

When i run amp wiring i run it down the center of the car all the way back.

Fyi tip use a industrial ziptie to help pull wiring thru.
