Always curious what gold would look like on a silver car... So I did it.

Did the whole thing myself following a DIY on Honda-Tech.

1. Taped off the polished areas and tires. (taping first, helps not to scuff the finish on the polished areas)
2. I used laquer thinner to clean the wheels.
3. Scuffed them with 320, then 600 grit.
4. Use laquer thinner to clean them off again.
5. Three light coats of primer, 10 min between coats. (Duplicolor from Autozone, sandable or sealer, both work)
6. Wait 30 minutes. I did five or six very light coats of color ("GOLD" Duplicolor in my case, 10 min between coats. The wheel wasn't completely covered until the third or fourth coat.)
7. Wait 30 minutes. Two coats of clear, first two being very light, waiting 15 minutes between them. After 20 minutes, one more somewhat heavy coat. (I used Duplicolor's clear 'wheel paint' because it supposedly holds up better to brake dust, heat, and chemicals.)
8. Let dry overnight before removing the tape SLOWLY.
9. Give it up to 7 days to cure if you really want to be sure it'll stick.

I'm looking into possibly doing a clear powder coat over the whole wheel to really protect it.
