I had the fast turn signal problem (driver's side) and it turned out to be a sketchy contact in the front turn signal socket. I pulled the bulb, bent the contact out a little with a jeweler's screwdriver, replaced the bulb with a Silverstar (they have larger contacts on the bottom) and problem solved.
